My toe toe hurts

Well on with the moving and such... Yesterday at the grocery store, while we were wating in line, Zach had a hard time standing still and being patient..(big surprise) anyways he backed up and smashed my toe with his metal shank rubber boots. Since we were in a public place I was unable to yelp in pain. I let the tears roll instead. When we got to the parking lot I got a chance to look at my foot. He cracked one of my toenails and it was bleeding. Ouchie wah wah. We had a fifteen minute talk about being mindful of your body and such..I know he was not really listening, but it made me feel better.

Legs Cramps

All this moving has reminded my body how terribly out of shape I am. I awoke at 5-ish this morning with awful legs cramps, in each leg, one upper the other lower. Gene must have been feeling kind, cause he brought me some water and told me I was just dehydrated. The cramps went away after awhile but I have had them the past couple of nights last night being the worst. It has been hot, and maybe I have not been drinking enough water, but I think its really cause I am just severely outta shape. Anyways, just a few days left of moving! YAY! I will be off of the puter for a few days tho cause they can't tranfer service until the afternoon of the 2nd, wahhhhh! I will be glad when we are moved in..no more stairs and main floor laundry to boot. We have a birthday party to go to on Friday and Sat. But we are pretty close to being moved in, so I am looking forward to the breaks. Later dudes. Evie

Monday Blues

Well I still have illness, but I have had to put it aside. I had to wait for the inspector to come the the house and make sure the new furnace is okay. The window of time I was given was 8:30-11:30. They came at 11:30. In the meantime I painted Zach's room blue, per his request. I wanted to finish before I picked him up from school, but no such luck. He deceided to be my helper, but he spilled paint on the carpet and I had to send him packing. I finished the room, and now I just have to do the baseboards, I am going to go get some painting tape to protect the floor with.
Dinner is going to have to be something quick and easy. And I never did get around to making an actual menu. I am going to let it go only cause its moving week, and everything is willy nilly.

Sunday Bloody Sunday

Well I guess I have the flu. I was so feverish the rest of yesterday. I had to take some cold and flu meds so I could go to the BBQ. I ended up making 4 dozen deviled eggs, all of which dissappeared within about 20 minutes. By about 9pm, 2 hours after arriving at the BBQ I was woozy and ready to go home. I shivered in bed for about 15 minutes before I fell asleep, then I got up every two hours to either put on or take off more clothes. YAY ILLNESS! I have a mountain of laundry to tackle and a car to pack, it is moving week after all. If I can muster up my strength I will post the menu later today.

Yay for Sat!

Well I woke up this morning feeling like I have a hangover, but I did no drinking last night, unless iced tea counts. I did however spend an hour in the garden attacking the weeds and grass. Gene will not buy proper gardening tools since the cultivator from sears broke twice. So I think it is just me over doing it. Everytime I bent over in the garden I swear like 4 skeeters bit my arse. After some coffee and a trip the the farmers market I should be feeling fantastico!
Today I get to open the pea pickles I made. We are going to a BBQ at a friends house and I think I will take a jar over there. I have got a busy day, with packing and such. Also gotta make 3 dozen deviled eggs for the BBQ and a homemade banana pudding..yum, I gotta get our meat ready for the grill too.
I am looking for some local sausage for sunday brakfast and another pound of Amy's super fantastic bacon. And maybe some veggies too depending on what's available.
I am working on the weekly menu, which i will post when its done later, since I have not done it in awhile and I had a request to do so. Like a bolt of pea soup I am off.

Getting bloggy with it.

Okay so I am making an effort to get back to some daily blogging. Today, I have mucho packing to do and possibly some painting too. Zach's room is another one of the previous homeowners horrible choice in paint colors! He wants a blue room, and since they left us paint from before and 2 rooms in the house are already blue, we can just mix our paints and then we'll get some interesting shade of *BLUE*!
The dinner menu tonight:
Baked chicken with ground red white and black pepper, parsley and french gray salt.
Roasted Asparagus with olive oil and french gray salt.
Mac and cheese, cause the boy has to eat something right??

I found this funny link to some comics, one of which I will make into a t-shirt tranfer for Gene.

Did I mention this house thing can make you crazy?

Well I spent a good portion of today on the phone calling people to find out why no one has figured out what to do with my living room carpet. wow does it suck! They actually thought that is was fine, and does not need anything. At the very least it needs to be cleaned professionally. Spent almost 4 hours doing this calling and waiting thing today. It is making me LOCO!
In other news Gene starting the tiling job in the bathroom and as not to argue but the tub is white and the tiles are beige...well its called bone. It looks not good together, but who am I to complain? Gene could possibly shoot me if I try to complain, as he may go postal at any moment now.
I started packing and have taken 2 small loads over and it feels pretty darn good to have a kitchen large enough to accomodate me.
Its chili night here and the crockpot is making the house hot, but it smells freakin awesome too. I am off to more packing toodles. Evie

Back again!

Wow, its almost been two weeks since I last posted anything. I have been so busy with house stuff. We are fighting the contractor and insurance company about almost everything. We did manage to get them to replace the furnace and the hot water heater. They have put in the new linoleum, and painted. They said they are finished, but upon our inspection last nite we are not very happy. One of the kitchen lights was not installed properly and will not shut off at the switch, and when they re-installed the dishwasher they kinked the line, so when I ran it, there was not much water going into it, thus burning out the motor, and draining some water onto my new floor. They paint job was sloppy, and there are visible drips and paint on the cabinets. The kitchen does look so much better, but the contractor sent out some pretty messy workers. Here are some pics:

Gene took it upon himself to re-do the bath tub/shower area, he ripped out the plastic walls and is going to be putting tile in there instead.

I wish I had more time for blogging, but I have a busy day ahead of me, as I am going to start moving kitchen stuff! yay

Peas Please

Howdy folks. What a delightful Friday I am having. I dropped Zach off at preschool, (yay school!), and then I went to Pendelton's Pick your own, to pick my own peas. You get them for free if you give them half of what you pick. Its not a bad dael considering they charge $2.50 a lb for snow peas and $5.00 a lb for sugar snap peas(most sought after). I picked three pounds of sugar snaps, so I got to keep a pound and a half, but I picked a whopping 11 lbs of those suckers, so they gave me almost 6 lbs of those to take home. The weather was only in the 70's and it was so nice out. The earth was cool after that big storm we had last nite, so I picked for a little over an hour.
Just in case you are wondering what 1 1/2 lbs of sugar snap peas and 6 lbs of snow peas looks like:

Well these will keep me busy. Now I have to trim them and get them into baggies for freezing.
Cleaning for the rest of the afternoon, we are entertaining a few friends tonite and I have to get the pork chops into the crockpot! Evie

Creative cooking

Well friends it has been a few days! I have been keeping busy doing house errands and such. We finally signed on with a contractor who started work today! yay. I guess it lokks like the are no new cabinets in my future though. They did not sustain enough damage?? WTF! I will be getting some new flooring and carpets hopefully and they will prime the walls in the kitchen...and that's about it folks. Gene is being interviewed on channel 6 local news for the break in. They will be visiting our new house today at 4pm. Maybe someone will take pity and offer me some new cabinets, right? Anyways we had a super busy weekend and I am still recovering. I bought some gorgeous onions at the farmers market last week and made a delightful French onion soup with them..yum-o.
Here's the recipe:
3 medium onion sliced into thin rings
2 cloves garlic peeled and chopped
6 cup beef broth (I use better than boullion and water)
1 tbsp butter (1 for frying with one to add to stock
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp worcestshire sauce(pardon my spelling but bottle lost its label!)
Bread slices of your choice (I used day old french bread)
4-6 slices Muenster(cheaper than required Guyere cheese)

Heat frying pan, adding butter and olive oil. Soften onions in pan, adding garlic the last 3-5 min. of softening. Place broth, butter, and sauce in stock pot. Add onion and garlic. Bring to a boil then simmer for 20 minutes. place bread slices on baking sheet and place one slice of cheese on each. Broil on low until melty and slightly browned. Float a bread on top of each bowl of soup. (Make enough for a second round!) Serve with a salad. YUMMMY!
This could easily be made into a veggie meal by using a veggie broth instead of beef.
